Following Common Integrated Business Processes

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:

Identify and analyze the common integrated business processes between the systems. Learners will also identify the constituent steps required within each integrated business process.

Common Integrated Business Processes

This unit illustrates the most common integrated business process flows between SAP Commerce Cloud and S/4HANA Cloud. Although there are more, for the sake of simplicity, only the following processes will be explained:

Integration Modules

Depending on the data integrated, we can distinguish between Master Data and Transactional Data.

Master data ensures that there is one "source of truth" for this data. In this case, it's S/4HANA. The Commerce system will need to replicate it. Examples: Customer, Product, Price, Discount, etc.

Transactional data has a time dimension. Transactional data is generated by different systems while executing or carrying out everyday business processes like buying and selling. Examples: Order, Invoice, Payment, Taxes, etc.

SAP Commerce Cloud integration features are provided through one or more modules, composed of separate extensions. Some integration features are intended for Business to Customer (B2C) scenarios. Others are intended for Business to Business (B2B) scenarios, with other features available for both B2C and B2B scenarios.

The optional SAP Commerce Cloud, Integration Extension Pack, provides additional integration solutions that are pre-developed for specific purposes. The structure of the integration extension pack reflects the modular architecture of SAP Commerce Cloud.

We can consider four different categories for the integration modules offered:

Master Data modules to implement master data replication.
Order Management modules implementing different ways to handle orders between both systems
Transaction Management modules for transferring all the other transactional data needed
Other modules offering more particular and specific features.

The names and corresponding features of all these modules can be challenging. Let’s clarify these names.
