Unit Overview

Before you learn more about the individual process steps in Sales, you need to familiarize yourself with the Sales areas. You will learn about the enterprise structure from the perspective of Sales and Distribution.

Make sure that your sound is on, then start with the interaction below to learn more about this unit.

This lesson focuses on the end-to-end Sales process. As we learned from the overview, there are two possible systems that could be used in Sales. Originally, the entire order-to-cash process took place in the SAP S/4HANA module Sales and Distribution (SD). But additionally, the presales process can be started in SAP Sales Cloud, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This integration links presales documents like Lead, Opportunity, and Sales Quotes to Sales Orders. The SD module could then take the sales order and start delivery processing.

Enterprise Structure

An enterprise structure is implemented in SAP Sales and Distribution to help organize and manage business operations within the system. It is used to define the various organizational units within a company and their relationships to one another, including sales and distribution channels, plants, storage locations, and more.

The enterprise structure in SAP Sales and Distribution allows for the segregation of data and processes according to the different organizational units, enabling businesses to manage their operations more effectively. For example, a company may want to manage their sales and distribution for different regions or countries separately, and the enterprise structure allows them to do this within the same system.

Additionally, the enterprise structure in SAP Sales and Distribution also enables businesses to assign specific responsibilities and authorize access to different organizational units.

Let’s revisit the enterprise structure in SAP, but from the perspective of Sales and Distribution (SD).

Symona will explain the interconnected elements of the enterprise structure in the next interaction.
