The Contingent Module

When a buyer needs to hire one or more temporary workers, the Contingent module is used to create a job posting that captures and defines the requirements for a temporary worker. Administrators, or users with relevant administrative permissions, create predefined contingent types and job posting templates so that users can create job postings efficiently for specific types of workers.

The Contingent Workflow

SAP Fieldglass helps manage the entire external worker procurement process, from job posting through to hiring, time management, and invoicing.

How it does that depends entirely upon the customer’s business requirements. It is a highly configurable application, so there are multiple ways that external workers can be managed.

Let’s briefly run through a standard workflow illustrating how to procure and engage a Contingent worker.

The Contingent User Role

User Roles play a big part in the procurement of contingent workers. Like the contingent workflow, the users responsible for contingent transactions can differ from one organization to another, but generally they follow an industry standard. Let’s look at the four main user roles who are responsible for contingent transactions:

  • Hiring Manager
  • Program Management Office (PMO)
  • Supplier
  • Worker
