In today’s digital world, there are many new types of data.
As well as the traditional business data of structured records, we also have the following new data types:
This is data that relates to space such as geographic position, maps, engineering diagrams, floor plans.
This is data that relates to highly networked organizational entities such as social networks, supply chains.
SAP HANA Cloud can store and also process new types of data with the same SAP HANA Cloud database. In the past, different data types had to be stored and managed in separate systems, combining them was challenging. Combining data types results in the development of innovative applications that were never before possible.
For example, imagine a visual application used by an energy company to provide geographic information on infrastructure alerts, which can provide drill-down possibilities to access detailed text based data, e.g. incident tickets, support tickets. Then link the incident tickets using subject graphs to identify root-causes of breakdowns.
SAP HANA Cloud can also access data from any type of source, including the following:

SAP HANA Cloud can create an online connection to remote archives.

This includes any relational database.

SAP HANA Cloud can also access remote data without loading the data to its database. This means a live view of remotely stored data is always possible.
