Lifecycle Management

To promote content across multiple SAP Analytics Cloud tenants, you transfer over the cloud using the content network. The content network will help keep your content organized, available, and secured by appropriate permissions. You can set different access rights for each sharing destination. Each system can store up to 300 MB of exported content for free in the My Content area.


The SAP Analytics Cloud software release versions installed on the source and target tenants need to match (same version) or may differ by only one version. There is no backward compatibility.

To transport content, select Transport from the Navigation bar. You then choose either to Export from a tenant or Import to a tenant.

When exporting, you create a package of everything you want to promote to the other tenant. You select the objects to include in the package, and you can choose to include dependencies or not. For example, if you choose to include a story in your package, the story is based on at least one model, and the model contains dimensions and measures. All of those elements (model, dimension, measure) are dependencies of the story. If they are not promoted, the story will not work as designed on the source tenant.

When importing, you simply select the package from the content network to import.

Access the SAP Business Content Network

Business Content gives you a head start in setting up your solution by providing premade models, processes, and stories designed for different lines of business and data sources. Business content is stored on the Content Network and is available for import by administrators of any SAP Analytics Cloud system excluding trial systems.

Administrators can import it to your system to get pre-made models optimized for connections to data sources, as well as polished stories to present the data. Some planning business content packages also contain data actions and structured allocation steps to lead your users through a complete planning workflow.

The benefits of using delivered content include:

  • Faster implementations
  • The ability to copy and customize the content

Featuring Files on the Home sreen

Administrators can make content easier for end users to access by adding the Featured Files tile to their Home screen.

Include a file in Featured Files as follows:

  1. Go to the Navigation Bar on the left and choose Files to access the Files screen.
  2. On the menu bar (on the left of the file list), select the System icon.
  3. Search for and select the file(s) you want to add.
  4. On the toolbar, choose the Featured File icon.

Manage and Export Personal Content Packages

You can also use the Transport option to transfer personal content from one tenant to another. For example, if your organization has SAP Analytics Cloud tenants for specific business units, and you want to share one business unit's content with another, you can use the same Export/Import process via the content network as you use for lifecycle management.
