Understanding SAP SuccessFactors Platform

An Instance is the front-end system that a company's employees use on a daily basis. Access to functions and features are determined by Role-Based Permissions. Users who are given administrator rights will have access to Admin Center where they can find tools to manage different aspects of their system.

Provisioning is used to access the back-end of a company instance. This is where initial settings are made, where configurations are uploaded, and where different modules like SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central are activated. Customers are not granted access to Provisioning. Only authorized SAP SuccessFactors consultants and implementation partners are granted Provisioning access.

SAP SuccessFactors Platform is the foundation of the application suite.

Platform capabilities are grouped under three main areas: Administration, Technology, and User Experience. These essential platform capabilities are not module specific but are intended for use by all modules.

Fundamental Platform aspects are covered in the customer-focused course HR800. Consultants and customers who need more in-depth details can take THR80 and THR98. Historically HR level courses like HR800 have been geared toward customers whereas THR level courses like THR80 and THR98 have been geared towards consultants. THR level courses contain information related to provisioning and configuration items that cannot be performed without provisioning access. Since consultants can access provisioning whereas customers cannot, SAP SuccessFactors created the different types of training courses to meet different training needs.
