It ensures that the master data displayed is always consistent. In addition, you can also use this app to mark a product for deletion.

Note
The mark for deletion feature is not supported for single articles.

In the create scenario, this app assigns the industry sector M (Mechanical) to the new record by default. In the edit scenario, you can update existing records belonging to any industry sector.

The following is a list of key features:

  • Create product master data records.

  • Copy product master data records.

  • Display master data records.

  • Edit or change product master data records.

  • Product Master Plant

  • Product Master Valuation

  • Product Storage Location

In addition to the features listed above, the app supports the following technical features and options:

FeaturesDescription

MRP Areas

You can add plant specific MRP areas in the Product Master app. If a parent product contains MRP areas, the same gets copied to the child product when you perform a copy operation. Even in case of product variants, the MRP areas that you specify for a product will be available in the variants as well.

Variant Matrix

You can use this feature in the Product Master to create variants for a product. The product variant is linked to the configurable product master record and configured using the characteristics of the configurable product. This variant of the configurable product can then be manufactured and kept in stock. If specific configurations of a configurable product occurs frequently, it is useful to create individual stock products for these configurations, so that these products can be manufactured in advance.

Based on the variant class type 300 and all the values assigned to the characteristics of a product, you can see all the possible combinations allowed for the creation of a variant. This enables you to see all the variants already available for a product with its corresponding configuration or characteristic values, and from the available list, you can select new configuration values and create variants for the same.

For configurable products, you can assign multiple class assignments of class type 300. If there are more than one Classes of Type 300 assigned, the Select Product Variants button shall be disabled on the UI.

Note

From this app, the maximum possible combinations of creating variants for a product master record is 999.

For more information about creating variants, refer to Creating Variants.

Material Ledger

This feature gives you the ability to manage material prices in multiple currencies/valuations.

Material inventory values are normally managed by the system in only one currency (company code currency). The material ledger enables the system to manage inventory values in two additional currencies/valuations. This is achieved by updating all goods movements in the material ledger in up to three currencies or valuations.

Delete Function for Product in Master Table

You have the option to mark a product for deletion in the object overview page of the app. To do this, you need to select the Is Marked for Deletion check box. If you select this check box at the Client level, the system marks the entire product for deletion. You can also mark a product for deletion at other organization levels such as Plant, Distribution Chain, Valuation Type and Storage Location.

When you mark a product for deletion, this app generates a warning message for the user that explains the levels where the product has been marked for deletion. Note that if you mark a product for deletion at the Plant level, then the app marks the product for deletion at the corresponding Storage Location and Valuation Type as well.

For a product that is present in the master table, you are allowed to delete only certain aspects of the product. you can perform such a deletion only when the product is being edited. In edit mode, you can delete descriptions when multiple descriptions are present for the product. It is mandatory to have at least one description for a product. The same applies to a product when multiple dimensions are also present. If you try to perform a delete for any other nodes, the master tables will remain unaffected.

Creation of Multiple Sub-entities for a Product

For certain nodes, you are allowed to create several sub-entities for a single product. For example, you can create a product with multiple plants. The nodes for which this scenario can be used are listed below:

  • Descriptions
  • Dimensions
  • Distribution Chains
  • Plants
  • Valuation Areas

Automatic Calculation of Sales Tax for Master Data Records

When creating a product (active and draft version), the system automatically calculates sales tax once you have specified the values in mandatory fields for Distribution Chains. You should not manually create sales tax data for a master data record. You must only specify the Distribution Chains for Sales Tax.

Attachments

You can use the feature of attachments to provide related attachments for a master data record. You can upload, download, rename, and delete attachments from Manage Product Master Data application using this feature. The app supports the following types of attachments

•Document Management Services (DMS) - You can select the document type that you want to attach from the dropdown list in the section •Generic Object Services (GOS) - You can attach any type of document in the section.
Classification

You can use the classification feature to assign classes to a master data record and evaluate its characteristics. For more information, see Classification Reuse UI Component.

For configurable products, you can assign multiple class assignments of class type 300. If there are more than one Classes of Type 300 assigned, the button shall be disabled on the UI.

Engineering Change NumberUsing the Engineering Change Number feature available in this app, when making changes to a product, you can assign a change number to indicate that there has been a change in master records. For more information, refer Engineering Change Number
Check for Potential Duplicates of Master RecordsThe duplicate check feature allows the user to see whether potential duplicates exist for any product master data records. If duplicate records exist, the user then has the flexibility to either make changes to these records or to use these records to create new ones. For more information, refer Checking for Potential Duplicates of Master Records
Mass Processing of Product Master RecordsYou can use the mass processing feature to process multiple active products and variants of configurable products. For more information, refer Mass Processing
Sales BOMYou can use the Sales BOM feature in Manage Product Master app to create and maintain sales BOM details for simple cases. For more information, refer Sales BOM

The user can assess the compliance aspects so that the products can be sold, transported, produced, stored and purchased without causing any compliance risks by the company.
Excise TaxYou can use this feature to specify whether a product is relevant for excise tax for a specific plant. During excise tax calculation process, the application checks the status of the Is Excise Tax Relevant indicator and decides whether to perform excise tax calculations for the product and its specified plant.
Time StampYou can use this feature to view the time stamp details for a product such as the date and time on which the product was created or last changed on. The time details are displayed on the Fiori UI based the time zone settings of your device. You can use this data for any business processes where country specific date and time are relevant.
Error NavigationYou can use this feature to resolve issues shown on the message pop-over on the Fiori application. Using this feature, you can now navigate to the corresponding field on the UI where an inconsistency has caused an error. For more information, refer Error Handling.

Search for Products by ValuationYou can search for products by valuation in the Manage Product Master app. For more information, Searching for Products.
Country of Origin

You can search for plants based on country/region of origin. You can perform the search on country key and text.

A product can have multiple plants, and each plant, in turn, can have a country of origin. Due to this reason, to enable the search, you must first add the country of origin values at the plant level using View Settings.

Once this setting is configured, you can perform the search and from the results list, you can download the corresponding values for all plants in a product using the Export to Excel button.

Registration for Indirect Taxation Abroad (RITA)You can configure RITA to enable indirect tax calculation and reporting for multiple countries/regions within a single legal entity in the Manage Product Master Data app.
Multiple Ledger Periods and Fiscal YearsYou can view the period and fiscal year data for all the prices of a product. You can view this detail in the Valuation section of the master data record.
Quality Management (QM)

This feature enables you to maintain QM-Specific data in the Manage Product Master Data app.

The Quality Management view of the material master contains the control parameters you need to process quality inspections throughout the logistics supply chain. In the material master, you define various inspection parameters based on the inspection type (for example, triggering events for quality inspections, inspection with or without a task list, with or without a material specification and whether results are to be recorded for inspection characteristics). You also enter the control data for QM in Procurement in the material master.
