So far we have concentrated on confidentiality and integrity when sending data and authentication on the server side, to make sure that we are communicating with the right receiver. In several scenarios the server also needs to ensure the identity of the client.
This is where client authentication methods come into the game, often only referred to as authentication methods or just authentication.
In contrast to server authentication that is carried out with the server certificate, for client authentication we have different methods.
