Schedule Data Imports

Once master data and transaction data imports are set up and you need regular imports, it is inefficient to run them manually. It's possible to schedule imports to run periodically. They can be set up to run hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly.

Imports can be scheduled for:

  • Dimensions: Dimension imports can be scheduled for each dimension independently.
  • Models: All master data and transaction data imports can be scheduled from the planning model, as can be seen in the following example.

Monthly Jobs

Depending on the frequency of the import schedule, the transaction import query may need to be adjusted. For example, if the update is scheduled to run monthly, the import query’s filter has to be set to the current month.

Import Query Failure

When you are creating a scheduled job, you can select two options for the job if the query fails:

  1. The failed import is skipped, and the remaining import queries run.
  2. All imports are stopped.

You can also choose to be notified by email of refresh failures.

Monitoring

The jobs can be monitored in the Schedule Status tab, which can be accessed from both the model and the Connections area.
