Stay Current Enablement

Stay Current Enablement is SAP's enablement offering for innovations to SAP software and applications, available at the Release to Customer date. The training content, assessments, and sandbox provide you with a head start on learning about the latest release features, and testing them out. Stay Current Enablement is delivered through SAP Learning Hub.

Stay Current Enablement Content

Stay Current Sandbox / Trial Environment

The Stay Current Sandbox is a complimentary offering that helps you explore the innovations delivered in the latest release of SAP S/4HANA Cloud. The landscape is a playground that comes pre-configured with a set of logistics, finance and analytics business scenarios. You can use the Stay Current Enablement learning map content as a reference while using the sandbox, but please be aware the scenarios and capabilities are not fully configured, and therefore may not work as expected. However, all users have full authorization to configure and create scenarios, and configure the Fiori Launchpad.

Access and Registration

  1. Log into SAP Learning Hub.
  2. Select Learning Content from the menu in the upper left corner.
  3. In the Find Courses area, keyword search for the latest release version (for example the collection number) and the term sandbox.
  4. Choose Go to search.
  5. Locate the sandbox and select Assign to Me.
  6. Access to the sandbox/early trial system runs on a weekly basis and access is granted every Monday morning.
  7. Registration for access to the following week's system is open until 16:00 CET on the preceding Thursday. After this date, a confirmation email will be sent to you with access details from e-learning@sap.com.

Important Information

  • Please check your spam/junk filter or add e-learning@sap.com as a trusted email address to ensure you receive your access information.
  • The sandbox/early trial environment is a shared landscape, so please use the authorizations carefully.
  • Systems access is currently limited to a set number of registrations per week.
  • Scenarios and capabilities are not fully configured in the sandbox/early trial, and therefore may not work as expected.

How to Maintain Current Certification Status

If you have gained certification in a particular SAP S/4HANA Cloud training course, you must continue to stay up to date with your knowledge to maintain "current" certification. After each release, Stay Current enablement content is made available for each course in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Implementation Learning Room. The content includes a short assessment that you complete through SAP Learning Hub. To maintain current certification status, you must review the new content and complete the short assessment within the deadline. Find the Stay Current Exam Schedule here.

Customer Activities to Maintain the SAP S/4HANA Cloud System Post Go-Live

It is imperative that customers stay current with release upgrades, as new or enhanced features may affect your existing business processes or extensions. Key users must review new features, conduct post-upgrade regression testing, determine if new scope should be activated, and maintain business catalogs according to new or enhanced scope items.

Post-upgrade Regression Testing

  • Conduct post-upgrade regression testing to determine if enhancements affected your current scope and/or extensions.
  • SAP offers support testing a selected set of standard business processes. Testing will not be conducted on extended processes.
  • For detailed information, please refer to the testing tasks in the SAP Roadmap Viewer:
    • Provide Consent for Post Upgrade Testing.
    • Maintain Master Data and Transaction Data.
    • Maintain Test User Credentials.
    • View Post Upgrade Test Result.
    • Execute Regression Testing.
    • Test Execution Analysis and Reporting.

New Scope Activation

  • Determine if new scope should be activated, and who the changes will affect.
  • Communicate to affected end users detailed information regarding the new scope activation.
    • WHO will be affected.
    • WHEN will the change take place.
    • WHY is this change happening.
    • WHERE will this change be applicable in the system.
    • HOW does the new functionality work.

  • You will need to adapt the existing Business Catalogs and Business Roles as a result of activating new scope items in your system.
Note
Change projects to transport customizations from Quality to Production cannot be done during the two week window of time where the Q-system is on the new release version and the P-system is on the previous release version. When the P-system is upgraded (two weeks after quality is upgraded), transports can resume.

Business Catalog Maintenance

Due to ongoing development in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, including the development of new features and new apps, we need to revise existing business catalogs periodically. This means that some business catalogs will be deprecated and replaced by new ones, so you will need to assign roles and users to these new catalogs.

Rather than disappearing, deprecated business catalogs are identified as being obsolete, which allows you to identify them at a glance. You can also check how many deprecated business catalogs you still have in use with the Business Catalogs app. This app lets you change assignments from the old, deprecated business catalogs to the new, active catalogs quickly and easily. Once the deprecation of a business catalog is announced with the Business Catalogs app, the catalog stays in the system for two more releases before being deleted. During these two releases you can use the old or the new business catalogs. Within this timeframe, you can replace them when it suits you best.

In the Business Catalogs app, you can see the release in which the deprecation of a business catalog was announced. In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, some business catalogs are redesigned in each release. Please check the assignments for your roles and users in the Business Catalogs app and make the necessary changes to the assignments as soon as possible.

Activate New Features via SAP Fiori App

New feature delivery updates become available in the Activate New Features SAP Fiori app in the launchpad. A customer admin can activate a new feature in the app when it is released, or wait until the next major release, when it will automatically be activated by SAP in their system.

Note

You must first activate a new feature using the Activate New Features app in the Quality system. After testing the feature in the Q system, you then use the Activate New Features app in the Production system to activate the feature. Feature activation is not transported, therefore you must activate a new feature independently in each system. Once a feature is activated, it cannot be deactivated.

Test Data Refresh Service

SAP S/4HANA Cloud customers can test cloud releases with up-to-date data using the Test Data Refresh service (additional subscription required). The Test Data Refresh service enables you to request a transfer of your master and transactional data from the production system to a non-production system (quality or test system). This enables you to run meaningful and complete tests in the non-production system with current and realistic test data originating from your production environment.

In addition, the service includes a depersonalization feature that scrambles personal data so that it is made very difficult to trace back the refreshed data in the non-production system to any person whose personal data exists in the related production system.
