Reporting Rules

Most reporting requirements can be met without the use of reporting rules by running the Group Data Analysis app. However, in some special use cases, reports that use reporting rules are needed (see the following list of examples).

  • Statement of changes in equity

  • Statement of cash flow

  • Statement of comprehensive income

  • P&L by function of expense

  • IC reconciliation

Reporting rule prompts

Reports with reporting rules can be run from either the Group Data Analysis - With Reporting Rules app or from SAP Analysis for Office. Reports with reporting rules have two unique prompts:

  1. Reporting Item Hierarchy: this is used to organize report items into logical groupings.
  2. Reporting Rule Variant: this is used to select version-specific report rules.

In the Cash flow report with reporting rules example, the Statement of Cash Flow results are displayed in the Group Data Analysis - With Reporting Rules app.

In the Cash flow report with reporting rules example, the grid properties are set to display Alternating Row Colors. To access the grid properties: Right-click on a dimensionDisplayGrid Properties.

An example for statement of equity is shown in the following Statement of equity report with reporting rules example.
