Lesson Overview
In this lesson, you will learn how to create your free SAP HANA Cloud trial instance on top of the SAP BTP trial. You will also gain insight in which services and features SAP HANA Cloud and SAP BTP provide in the trial environments. You will also learn how you can use a SAP BTP trial instance via your enterprise SAP BTP account.
NoteSAP HANA Cloud Trial is replaced by SAP BTP Free Tier. The SAP BTP Free Tier also includes SAP HANA Cloud.
Your SAP BTP trial account remains active until further notice.
Create your SAP HANA Cloud Trial
Now that you have logged on to your SAP.com account, you can start your SAP HANA Cloud trail. SAP HANA Cloud is part of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), this means a SAP BTP instance will be automatically created for you.
Navigate to https://www.sap.com/products/hana/cloud-trial.html to create of your free SAP HANA Cloud trial. Click the Get started with a one year free trial button to start the procedure.
Because you are already logged on to SAP.com with your personal SAP.com account the process will start immediately. The Welcome to your free trial pop-up tells you where in the SAP BTP you can find SAP HANA Cloud. Click the Click here to start your trial! button to start the creation of your SAP BTP trial instance.
What is the SAP ID Service?
The SAP ID Service is an Identity Provider (IDP) that uses the SAML 2.0 specification and can authenticate users for single sign-on to SAP Cloud solutions. Using the SAP ID service makes connecting to the different SAP Cloud products as easy as logging on to your local networked desktop computer.

SAP BTP Trial Setup
The SAP Business Technology Platform trial setup process takes only a few minutes, but you have to perform the following steps to complete the process.
- In the Welcome to Your Personal Trial window, select the region that is closest to you. Your instance will be setup in a data center in that region to make sure the network latency is minimal.
- To start the creation process, press the Create Account button.
- The SAP Business Technology Platform trial setup process takes only a few minutes. The progress is shown in the Welcome to Your Personal Trial window.
- When the process is finished, press the Continue button.
