Data Replication

Data needs to be replicated regularly from a source system such as SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC to SAP Responsible Design and Production. The following object types need to be replicated:

  • Configuration data
  • Organization data
  • Customers
  • Products
  • Deliveries
  • Packaging elements
  • Packaging compositions
  • Material documents
  • Suppliers
  • Batches
Note

Configuration and organization data needs to be replicated before any other data.

The following replication types are supported:

  • Push replication
  • Data import through file upload

Push replication

Push replication means that data is sent from an SAP system or a third-party system to SAP Responsible Design and Production. The time, the object types, and the recurrence are determined on the source system side. Source systems and object types must be configured in the Configuration Cockpit application.

Viewing Replication Results

SAP Responsible Design and Production provides a public API for data replication. To be able to push data from your system, you need to get the credentials, access the API, and configure the replication in SAP Responsible Design and Production.

You can view replication results in different applications. To see log data, go to the Configuration Cockpit and the Replications tab. To inspect the replicated data, different applications are available:

  • Manage Customers
  • Manage Products
  • View Packaging Compositions
  • View Packaging Elements

To find out if there are data issues that need to be resolved, go to the View Data Quality - Issues application.

Managing Customers

In SAP Responsible Design and Production, you can view replicated or imported customer information. You can also create customer tags and edit the customer role.

To view replicated or imported customers, go to the Manage Customers application.

Create customer tags in the Configuration Cockpit in the Customer Tags section. You can maintain tag descriptions in different languages.

Assign tags to customers or edit the role in the Manage Customers application. Search and select the customer that you want to edit. Editing options are provided in the detail view.

Managing Products

In SAP Responsible Design and Production, you can view replicated or imported product information and you can edit the additional attributes and the country/region-specific data of a product.

Products can be finished goods, trading goods, or packaging materials. For a company that produces packaging materials, products correspond to packaging materials.

To view replicated or imported products, go to the Manage Productsapplication.

Search and select the product that you want to edit. Editing options are provided in the detail view.
