Connectivity

Enable connectivity to your business system, such as SAP S/4HANA, to read and write data in SAP Product Footprint Management.

SAP Product Footprint Management supports connectivity with SAP S/4HANA (2021 and later) and SAP S/4HANA Cloud (2108 and later). However, you can use other business systems such as SAP ECC to replicate your data into the solution.

Connectivity settings are required to allow the SAP Product Footprint Management solution to read data from your SAP S/4HANA Cloud or your SAP S/4HANA system, for processing this data in SAP Product Footprint Management, and certain SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP S/4HANA components to call SAP Product Footprint Management for footprint results.

Data Replication

To do a calculation run, you must first retrieve master data stored in your business system, such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP S/4HANA. After that, you can import or replicate the transactional activity data and the cost estimate data that you need.

The data that you import or replicate from these systems is considered to be the source data for footprint calculations. If you do not import or replicate some customer, supplier, plant, or product group information from these systems, you will not be able to use them for footprint calculations. Also, unit of measure data is required by SAP Product Footprint Management, for example, for converting pounds into kilograms.

To Import Data from SAP S/4HANA Application

To calculate footprints for your products, SAP Product Footprint Management requires your master, transactional activity and cost estimate data stored in your business system, such as SAP S/4HANA Cloud or SAP S/4HANA. With an established live connection to your business system, you can first fetch master data entities and then the business data you need.
