Using Boosters

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to apply boosters

Boosters

Boosters in SAP BTP are a set of guided interactive steps that enable you to select, configure, and consume services on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) to achieve specific technical goals. In a nutshell, they simplify the process of setting up and configuring BTP services, making it easier for administrators, developers, and users to get started with BTP.

Guided Setup:

Boosters play a crucial role in simplifying and accelerating the setup and configuration process within SAP Business Technology Platform. Guided Setup provides step-by-step guidance for specific technical tasks, such as creating subaccounts, configuring services, or setting up authentication. Users follow the booster's instructions, reducing the chances of errors and ensuring consistent setups.

Automation:

Automation is another key feature of boosters. They automate repetitive tasks, saving time and effort by handling configurations, permissions, and prerequisites automatically. For example, the SAP Build Code Booster creates subaccounts, connects to identity providers, and validates permissions.

User-Friendly Interface:

The user-friendly interface of boosters makes them accessible to even users with limited technical expertise, simplifying complex processes and making them accessible to a broader audience. They also prevent errors by validating settings and notifying users of any issues, preventing issues during application development.

Consistency:

Consistency is also guaranteed with boosters, ensuring setups are consistent across different environments, allowing developers to rely on standardized configurations.

Time Saving:

Time savings are another benefit, as boosters streamline the process, allowing users to focus on building applications.

Boosters are a set of guided interactive steps that enable you to select, configure, and consume services on SAP BTP to achieve a specific technical goal, often in the form of an artifact. This means that a booster helps you to understand what you can do and guides you through the process. Examples of artifacts include applications, content for integration and software development, or even services for documents. Through the boosters, the administrative tasks can get reduced and are easier to understand through the guided configurations and links to additional resources.

Boosters can be distinguished, firstly, via the environment/account they are running in.

Secondly, boosters can be distinguished by the number of customization options offered. Some boosters offer limited or no customization options, while others include a wizard for more tailored setups.

The SAP BTP offers boosters in categories for Application Development and Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Data and Analytics, Foundation / Cross Services and SAP Cloud Solutions and Industry Cloud. The offering of boosters in the booster catalog can change from time to time.

You can access the boosters catalog directly from your global account in the SAP BTP cockpit by choosing Boosters in the navigation menu. The catalog overview lists all the available boosters, grouped by capability. From this overview page, you can quickly view information about a booster, start a booster, or choose a tile to access the booster details.

The details page of each Booster is organized in three tabs: Overview, Components, and Additional Resources.

The Set up account for SAP Build Process Automation (Free) page, showing an overview of the booster setup process, benefits of SAP Build Process Automation, and a Start button in the top right corner.

When you select a booster in the booster catalog, you start with the Overview page of the booster. Within that page you get details and an explanation of what the booster does, that is, its features and some more details in how the booster can assist you.

In the Components screen of a booster, you can see all the components that are required for the booster to run (service and subscription plans – which are mandatory and which are not).

In the Additional Resources screen, you can get more information relating to the specific booster, for example, links to blog posts, missions from the SAP Discovery Center, links to the documentation, or links to SAP learning journeys for this topic can be listed here.

With the Start button, you can execute the booster.

In summary, SAP Boosters enhance efficiency, reduce complexity, and empower users to set up their SAP BTP environments effectively.
