To enable the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) calculation in SAP DM, setting up the master data is a crucial step. The image below illustrates the OEE master data elements in SAP DM and their relations to each other. When setting up the master data, it is recommended to proceed methodically from left to right.
Begin by assigning Resource Statuses to Time Element Types using the "Assign Time Element Types" app. The Resource Statuses refer to the different statuses that an individual resource, such as a machine, can have. On the other hand, "Time Element Types" are the OEE Time Buckets discussed in the previous lesson. Certain Time Element Types, such as "Scheduled Down" can be directly mapped to a Resource Status, whereas others, like "Speed Loss" cannot be mapped directly. The mapping between Time Element Types and Resource Statuses that can be mapped is usually fixed, and although it is technically possible to change it, such changes are generally not recommended.
Next is mapping the Time Element Types to Time Elements in the "Manage OEE Time Model Configuration" app. Unlike the predelivered Time Element Types and Resource Statuses, Time Elements can be customized. These Time Elements are more granular and provide a grouping object for reason codes which enables a drill down loss analysis.
The next step is to create Reason Codes and map them to the Time Elements that represent losses using the "Manage OEE Reason Codes" app. Also, the Reason Codes must be mapped to Resources in the "Assign OEE Reason Codes" app. It specifies which Reason Codes are relevant for which Resource and enabled the Reason Code logging.
Finally, you must define standard rates and map them to the Resources or Work Centers to track performance losses that occur when the actual production speed is slower than the standard rate. Both of these tasks, defining standard rates, and mapping them to Resources/Work Centers, are performed in the "Manage Standard Rates" app.
There is an exercise on how to build the OEE with the OEE-related master data in the next lesson.
Additional to the OEE-specific master data, it is required to mark your reporting relevant Resources as "OEE Relevant" in the "Manage Work Center" and assign a shift to the Resources in the "Manage Resource" app.
