Knowing how the subscription lifecycle works in SAP Subscription Billing now, we will continue with Custom References and Notifications on subscription and subscription item level.
Like other objects in subscription billing, custom references are defined at both the subscription level and the subscription item level. For example, at the subscription level, select the Create button under Custom References and reference an order number from an external system.

To define custom references at the subscription item level, select the item within the subscription and select the Create button. For example, a customer’s printer location can be used as a custom reference.

You may also set email and technical system notifications under custom references. Notifications send events from subscription billing to SAP Event Mesh. These notifications are stored in defined queues and act as triggers for subsequent processes.
