Discovering the Key Features for Drive

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain Drive's key features.

Discovering the Key Features for Drive

Drive offers features that allow you to select how you will capture mileage using the SAP Concur mobile app. Use Drive for Scheduled or User-Initiated mileage capture or Google Maps for mapped & manual mileage capture.

Scheduled Mileage Capture

Select the days and times when smart sensors will capture mileage. Drive will automatically capture mileage when the vehicle starts moving and end the trip when the car stops moving (creates a distance log).

For improved accuracy, pair your phone with your car’s Bluetooth. Drive will only capture mileage when connected. This prevents tracking mileage when using transportation other than your car.

The image shows two smartphone screens displaying the SAP Concur application. The screen on the left shows the main menu of the app the following details: The title SAP Concur at the top; A section labeled July Expenses (07/01/2023) with the amount of 2,827,005.07 and a status Not Submitted; A Drive section (highlighted in yellow) with an option to enable mileage capturing; A list with available expenses, including items such as Public Transport with an amount of CNY85.00, Fuel with an amount of CZK 64.66, and Airline Fees with an amount of $22.00. The screen on the right shows the Drive settings menu with the following details: The title Drive Settings at the top, An Auto Capturing Mode section with options Off, User Initiated, and Schedule, with Scheduled being selected and highlighted in yellow. A Configure Schedule Hours section with toggles for each day of the week (Monday to Thursday) and specific time ranges(for example, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM)

User Initiated Mileage Capture

Choose to start and stop Drive's mileage detection manually. After the mileage is captured, you can choose to upload your trips to Concur Expense automatically or add them manually.

If you turn this off, you will need to manually add each trip to your expenses. Note that if you use this option, you will not be able to edit the speed captured; Traffic Mode: toggle switch (currently turned on), with description: If you expect heavy traffic or frequent delays during your trip.

Manual Mileage Capture Using Google Maps

Enter the start location and destination to view a list of recommended routes. Select your preferred route and an expense line item will be created based on this route's mileage. This is similar to the Google Maps link in the desktop version of Concur Expense.

Below the Off option, there are User-Initiated and Scheduled options, but they are not selected. The text at the bottom of the screen states, Mileage capturing is deactivated. Drive is not tracking your location or movement.

Now that you learned about Drive's key features, let's continue your journey and learn about Drive's key considerations in using it to capture mileage.
