Capturing Mileage with the User Initiated Option

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to capture car mileage using the User Initiated option.

Reviewing the User Initiated Capture

Using this option to capture your mileage allows the SAP Concur app to track your movements when you initiate the process, conveniently creating distance logs, and stopping when you choose. You will receive notifications marking the start and end of mileage capturing.

How to Track Mileage Using the User Initiated Option

Learn to capture business mileage using the User Initiated option:

Steps

  1. Enable Drive.

Drive must be enabled to track mileage. Select Enable.

  2. Turn ON the User Initiated option.

By default, the Auto Capturing Mode is turned OFF. Drive is not tracking the location or any movement at this point. Select User Initiated to enable Drive.

  3. Turn ON Add Directly To Expenses.

If Add Directly To Expenses is turned OFF, you can review your trip in the SAP Concur mobile app and then select Upload to move it to Concur Expense.

If Add Directly To Expenses is ON, the trip will automatically upload to Concur Expense once the trip is completed.

  4. Turn ON Traffic Mode.

Turn ON the Traffic Mode setting if you expect heavy traffic or frequent short stops on your trip. It will improve tracking continuity and reduce the number of segments in a long trip.

  5. Turn ON Use Motion.

We recommend using this setting to improve the accuracy of mileage captured. Once the Motion setting is enabled, Drive captures the movement of your car.

  6. Save the changes.

Select Close to save the changes and to return to the SAP Concur mobile app main menu.

  7. Start capturing the mileage.

The User Initiated capture of mileage option is enabled and ready to use.

Select Start from the app main menu to capture the mileage. As soon as the vehicle begins to move, Drive captures the mileage and creates distance logs.

Select Stop to finish capturing the mileage.
