Exploring the Goal Plan as an End User

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explore and use the goal plan as an end user

Goal Management Functionality for End Users

Goal Management Main Menu

Users can access from HomeGoals or selecting the Manage My Goals quick action on the home page. The image below shows the different navigation options, actions, and other items when accessing the Goal Plan.

Navigation options and actions when accessing the Goal Plan are highlighted.
  1. Users can toggle between Performance Goal and Development Goal, if a Development Plan is available for them. That way, from the same menu, employees and managers can review Performance and Development Goals easier.
  2. Option to expand a drop down list and access all the available Goal Plans. Those Goal Plans still not converted to the latest version but accessible to the employee, will be read-only and a Legacy View option is available to see goals from previous goal plans.
  3. In this section, we can display the total goal count, and the goal count by status. Each status can be selected to filter and see only those goals in the Goal Plan. Additionally, an "i" icon displays if there are any warnings from the min-goals, max-goals, min-weight or max-weight. On the right side, the total weight at the goal plan level will be displayed.

    Note

If defined, min-weight-per-obj and max-weight-per-obj are enforced in the Goal Plan.
  4. The introduction text is available here, when selecting the "i" icon, it will be expanded.
  5. Goal Categories
  6. Goal Cards
  7. Actions to create goals. Depending on the permissions, users can:
    • Access the Goal Creation Options menu, to add a personal goal from scratch, from a Goal Library, copy goals from another goal plan or use Generative AI to create a goal (the AI capabilities require an additional license and will be discussed later in this unit).
    • Cascade Goals
    • Manage Team Goals
    • Additionally, users can Print to PDF output their goal plan, selecting the option available.
  8. User Search. To search for users and navigate to their Goal Plan. Access to the actual goal plan might be restricted if the user is not in our target population. Additionally, inactive users can be now included on the search results.
  9. People Selector. It displays self, manager, direct reports and matrix reports (if any).

Goal Cards

In the goal plan, each goal is presented as a Goal Card, where end users can easily see their details and take actions on the goal.

Screenshot of the Goal Cards is highlighting Goal details and other actions.
  1. Goal Name, Type (if Team goals exist in the goal plan, the goal type will show Personal/Team) and Due Date.
  2. Actions depending on the permissions: Edit Goal, Delete Goal, Cascade Goal, Link Goal, Unalign Goal, Create Activity (requires Continuous Performance Management). If the Goal Alignment Chart is enabled and an alignment exists with other goals, a View Alignment Chart option will be also visible.
  3. Completion of the Goal (% completion and the status color). On the right side, the goal weight is shown.
  4. Change Goal Status.

Goal Details

Select the goal card to drill down into the details of the Goal and further actions.

  4. Goal Actions: Edit Goal, Cascade Goal, Delete Goal, Link Goal (If navigating to another user's goal plan, the Link Goal will show as Link to Me), and Unalign Goal.
  5. Manage Milestones. Displays details of the milestones towards achieving the goal.
  6. More Info: Displays details of additional goal fields and whether the goal has been enhanced by AI.
  7. Goal Audit: Allows to navigate to View Audit History and display the changes tracked to goals, when a goal is created, modified, deleted, cascaded, assigned, copied or replaced. A list of records showing what changes were made, by whom and when, including a comparison between previous and new values of the changed fields if a goal was modified or replaced.
  8. Linked Activities: Create and display activities and achievements (completed activities) in Continuous Performance Management.
  9. Linked Initiatives / Linked OKRs: Displays initiatives associated to the goal as well as any Objective and Key Results linked to this goal from Dynamic Teams.
  10. Comments on goals. Employee / Manager, as well as other users if they have permissions, can add comments on the goal and they will be notified via Goal Comment Notification whenever a comment has been posted by someone else.
  11. Goal Alignment. If the goal is cascaded to/cascaded from others or linked to another user's existing goal, the alignment is shown here. Aligned down indicates that this goal has been cascaded to these reports. A link to the goal alignment chart is available in this section.

The Goal Alignment Chart

The goal alignment chart can be accessed from the goal details view. Users get a visual representation of cascaded and linked goals and can drill into the levels for more details. The chart works for one or more goal plan templates in which goals were cascaded.
