Using Control Groupings in Legal Control

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to use control groupings in legal control.

Purpose of Control Groupings

Control groupings are additional data in classification for legal control. They can be used in license type determination in addition to or as an alternative to the control classes of the products to be imported or exported. As the term suggests, control groupings are meant to group control classes on the basis of freely definable criteria. Their purpose is to simplify license type determination, that is, to reduce the number of determination strategies to be created using the Manage Determination Strategies app.

The use of control groupings in classification is optional.

Define and Assign Control Groupings

Control groupings can be defined using the Manage Control Group for Products app. However, these groupings can only be assigned to the products on the Legal Control tab if their use is activated in the control settings of the relevant legal regulation or regulations by setting the License Type Grp. Act. indicator (SAP Global Trade Services, edition for SAP HANACompliance ManagementLegal ControlsControl Settings for Legal Control).

After the activation of the use of control groupings at legal regulation level, the Grouping field on the Legal Control tab of the product master has to be filled in combination with the field for the control class to complete classification for legal control. The assignment can be made individually or during mass classification.

Note

Peculiarity codes that could be assigned to products in the field below the Grouping field could play a role in license determination. The system might, for example, determine a license type for general licenses and identify the appropriate license using the peculiarity code of the product, amongst other criteria.
