Configuring Pricing

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to configure pricing

Basic Configuration of Pricing

Sequence of Configuration Steps

Note

See the following video to learn about the sequence of configuration steps in pricing, and in particular to learn about condition tables:

Key Fields of a Condition Table

Configuration of a condition table means picking the required key fields and indicating where they fit in the structure of the condition table (key or line).

Condition records are always created by using a specific key.

You use condition tables to define the structure of the keys for a condition record.

The most important fields that are used in pricing at the header and item levels are available in the standard system.

The key fields of a condition table must appear at the top of the table.

In the condition table, you can determine whether a field appears in the header or in the item part of the fast entry screen that is generated for defining condition records.

Access Sequences

Note

See the following video to learn about access sequences:

Creation of an Access Sequence

An access sequence contains a sequence of condition tables the system goes through when searching for a condition record.

You can define prices, discounts, and surcharges at various levels.

Each level is defined by a condition table.

The hierarchy of the different levels is determined by the sequence of the entries in an access sequence.

The system determines the condition records in the specified sequence.

Special Case: Assigning Alternative Source Fields

Within the definition of the access sequence, document fields need to be mapped to condition table fields.

Within each access of an access sequence, you can specify the document field or source field with which an access is performed.

Some examples are:

  • Material or pricing material
  • Document currency or local currency
  • Sold-to party or ship-to party

Restrictions in Access Sequences

It is possible to assign a requirement to an access, restricting when that access is actually executed. An example is using an access only if the document is a document with a foreign currency (i.e. a different currency from the company code currency to which the source document belongs).

The access sequence of standard condition type PR00 (Price) has a third access that is only applied when restriction 3 (document in foreign currency, that is, document currency is not local currency) is fulfilled. This third access involves a repeat access of the price list condition records with a different local currency source field.

You can use restriction-dependent accesses to avoid unnecessary accesses and reduce the system load.
