The master data for pricing conditions is stored in so-called condition records. The levels on which pricing is most commonly performed are predefined in the standard SAP S/4HANA system. You can, however, define conditions on any available key level, and you can even add key levels if you require so. For this purpose, a standard field catalogue containing the fields that are commonly used in pricing is provided within Customizing. And if needed, you can even add other fields to this standard field catalogue as well. A condition record is used to store the data that is used in pricing calculations. Examples of this data are rates, scales, and units of measure. A condition type is the template or formula for one part of the overall pricing calculation. Condition types define how an individual pricing calculation will take place and serve as the template or pattern for condition records. Examples of Customizing settings for a condition type are the calculation type and the scale basis fields. There are various maintenance options for conditions. In the first two units of this course the traditional way of maintaining condition records is used. In the third unit another maintenance option is explained in detail and then used. Condition records are always defined for a key combination that is assigned to the respective condition type. You can also assign several possible key combinations to a condition type, such as in the standard condition type PR00 (Price). In addition, you can specify a validity period to limit a pricing agreement to a specific period. Examples that are possible because of this are different price lists for different years and discounts that are given only for the duration of a special offer. You can define the values in a condition record, such as price, surcharge, and discount, according to a scale. There is no limit to the number of scale levels. You can also specify an upper limit and a lower limit for each condition record. If you want to manually change the pricing elements that are determined by the system, You can do so only within these limits.
