Considerations for customizing Procurement realms with parent & child realms

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to decide between implementing customizations on Parent vs. Child realms.

Customizations on Parent vs. Child realms.

Procurement realms integrated with a Parent-Child realm relationship can have the customizations implemented either on the Parent realm or on each child realm individually.

When deciding where to implement the customizations, the user should consider the following aspects:

  • Any change performed on the Parent realm will be replicated to all associated child realms.
  • New custom fields must be created on the Parent realm to be reportable.
  • Each realm might have a different ERP variant base (SAP vs. Simple-Generic vs. PeopleSoft).

Therefore any validation, filtering or other conditions might need to be applied to each child realm individually.
