Guided buying has a full-featured context-sensitive online-help, information, and training system named SAP Companion from SAP Enable Now. It's enabled by default, but you can turn it off for all users.
As users work in guided buying, they can choose a question mark icon to open a help panel that contains context-sensitive information. Help topics describe specific functions so users can perform just-in-time learning as they use guided buying.
SAP Companion can display standard content, custom content, or a combination of the two:
- Standard content is available for frequently used areas in guided buying, and a What's New topic announces new features.
- Your organization creates custom content to describe custom functionality and provide specific guidance, policies, PDFs, or videos so that users have the information they need to complete purchases on your site successfully. You can use standard content supplemented with custom content or modify standard content to align with your business processes and branding.
Standard content is available to all organizations without an additional license.
To start using the SAP Companion in guided buying, you must set the PARAM_ENABLE_WEB_ASSISTANT parameter to standard if you wish to display standard content, or enter a URL to display custom content from Enable Now. The image below illustrates the view after standard content has been enabled.

Enabling Custom Content
You can optionally enable custom help content for your organization's users. Enabling custom content allows you to create guidance specific to your organization and its custom functionality.
Custom content can help you manage:
- New user onboarding
- Change management for new functionality
- Occasional users
- Power users who want detailed information
- Release news
- Other information to help users, such as procurement policies, video tutorials, or enablement tools
To enable custom content, you must obtain an SAP Enable Now license, create an SAP Companion configuration file, add the SAP Companion configuration file URL to guided buying, and create custom content.
Note
To obtain an SAP Enable Now license, have your Designated Support Contact (DSC) contact your SAP Ariba representative. If you already have a license, you can use it for SAP Ariba applications, including guided buying.
