I think I have a good understanding of how approval processes work in SAP Ariba. However, I would be interested in approval escalations. As I am the one in charge of streamlining the approval process, I need to make sure documents are approved in a timely manner. I believe approval escalations play an important part in the process.
In the default configuration, approval requests for all approvable document types are escalated to an approver’s immediate supervisor after 14 days of non-approval. Seven days before the escalation, an email notification message is sent to the original approver, warning of the upcoming escalation.
Site administrators can customize the number of warning days and escalation days for each approvable via the Import Escalation and Withdrawal Periods by Approvable Type import.
