Introduction
When performing quality inspections on the bicycles, the production operator responsible for this task must undergo specific training. This training must be renewed annually to ensure compliance with the latest quality guidelines.
Creating Certifications
In SAP Digital Manufacturing, certifications are used to determine the level of expertise required for an operator to work on a material, operation activity, or resource. Certifications are enforced based on the user.

Certifications are managed in the Manage Certifications application. This application allows you to define both permanent and temporary certifications, as well as the duration and extension logic for each certification. The duration specifies how long the certificate remains valid, while certification extensions extend the validity for a certain period after expiration.
Certifications can be assigned to materials, operation activities, and resources. If a certification is associated with any of these objects, such as an operation activity, the user must have the same certification assigned in order to work with it.
In our example, we will assign a quality inspection certification to the final inspection operation activity.
Note
For more information about creating certifications, refer to the SAP Application Documentation.
Assigning User Certifications
Certifications are assigned to individual users. The Manage User Assignments application is where you assign the necessary certifications to a user for a material, operation activity, or resource.
The shop floor operator responsible for the final inspection operation activity must have the quality inspection certification assigned to their user. Additionally, the certification assignment must be enabled to allow the operator to perform the necessary tasks.
Note
For more information about assigning user certifications, refer to the SAP Application Documentation.
