Catalogs
A cross-application catalog system is used for reporting maintenance notifications.
This catalog system has a hierarchical structure.
The first level of the catalog system is the catalog type. Each catalog type represents a certain directory.
Each catalog type can be further subdivided using code groups.
You can define individual codes in each group.
The following catalog types are provided as standard for Plant Maintenance:
Catalog 2 for tasks
Catalog 5 for causes of damage
Catalog A for activities
Catalog B for object parts
Catalog C for damage
Catalog types R to Z are reserved for user-defined catalog types
In the catalogs, you assign each unit of information a unique alphanumeric code and an explanatory text. The text appears in the notification item as keywords for the respective catalog displayed.
Catalog Profiles
Catalog profiles can be set up for specific object types such as pumps, motors, vehicles, IT equipment etc. A catalog profile for pumps would combine all code groups of the different catalogs that are relevant for pumps. Whenever you create a notification for a specific pump the catalog profile would only offer these code groups when you make entries in the notification item - provided the catalog profile was assigned to the corresponding technical object.
Catalog profiles are assigned to technical objects and notification types. In case both notification type and technical object have a catalog profile assigned, the catalog profile of the technical object has the higher priority.
