Creating and Maintaining a Counter for a Technical Object

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create a counter for a technical object

Performance-Based Maintenance Planning

Business Example

Some machines in the company are to be maintained on the basis of their running performance. Counters must be defined for this for the object in question.

Counters and Measurement Documents

Image depicts the creation of a counter. The text box reads: Characteristic is throughput and estimated annual performance is 720,000 liters.

Counters are represented in the SAP System as special forms of measuring points. Measuring points are always created with reference to the object (for example, equipment), but obtain their own master record in the system.

A characteristic (for example, operating hours, flow, and volume) is assigned to the counter from the classification system. The characteristic is always used linked with the respective characteristic unit (for example, hours, liters).

The estimated annual performance is part of the counter and is entered as a fixed value. It forms the basis for calculating the maintenance intervals.
