A production order contains at least one manufacturing operation. When executing in-process quality inspections, you want to record inspection results while executing the manufacturing process, for example, via a worker self-inspection on the shop floor. For each manufacturing operation you plan a quantity which is to be manufactured. In this example, you want to produce 100 PC of a product, with one production order consisting of one manufacturing operation.
Note
Note that the in-process quality inspection does not need to be executed at the end of the manufacturing operation (as shown in the figure). If required, you can record inspection results any time.Note
Splitting the entire quantity to evenly spaced subsets as shown in the example is not the only option offered by SAP S/4HANA Quality Management. If required, you can also split the entire quantity to unevenly spaced subsets. It is also possible to split by time (for example one inspection point every 4 h), by physical sample, by container, or manually by any arbitrary event (for example shifts, tool changes, and so on). It is possible for the user to create inspection points manually or for the system to create inspection points automatically. We will discuss the various options in more detail during this course.
