Creating Story Reports with SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding Data

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create Story Reports with SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding data

People Analytics - Stories

Stories are generally composed of two parts:

  • Queries are your sources of data. They are essentially the different MDF objects in the SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite that can come from different modules.
  • Widgets represent the data you are generating on the report. They can be different types of data representations, such as charts and tables.

To create a Story Report, complete the following steps:

  • In the Report Center, use the Query Designer to build your query.
  • Add Widgets to your story.

Create a Story with Onboarding Data

Creating a Story Report with Onboarding data is very similar to how a Story Report is created for every other module in SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite. The only difference is the data in the report. It is beneficial to know the different MDF objects for Onboarding to identify the data you can generate on a Story Report.

Steps

  1. To open the Report Center, go to Reporting from the main navigation menu.

  2. To create a new report, choose New.

  3. In the pop-up window, choose Story, then Select.

The Query Designer window opens with a list of Available Data to choose your query from.

  4. Select an object/data token from the Onboarding category. Do this by clicking and dragging the object/data token from the Available Data to the left-hand pane. The left-hand pane is referred to as a canvas where a query is built.

Drag the Process option from the Available Data to the left-hand pane. Details are provided above.
  5. Select specific pieces of data (fields) from the selected object/data token. You can add more objects/data tokens from other schemas (such as SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting), depending on the initial schema chosen. In this case, Onboarding is the initial schema and is integrated with Recruiting.

Select specific fields from the selected Process, then select the Finish button.
  6. To save your query (which is your Datasource), choose Finish and enter a Name for it.

  7. Add widgets like Charts and define each as needed. For example, you can select fields to display in the charts.

Select fields to display in chart.
  8. To save your story, select Save from the File section.

Result

You have successfully created a Story Report that contains Onboarding data.
