Describing and Navigating the SAP Fiori Launchpad

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe FIori for Payroll Control Center

User Interfaces as Part of Payroll Control Center Components

Three Components of Payroll Control Center (PCC)

PCC is a fully automated system that leverages SAP’s promise of "run simple" and represents the next generation of payroll processing automation. Some of the benefits of PCC include the following:

  • State-of-the-art user interfaces (such as SAP Fiori launchpad and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll), which are simple to use so that payroll employees can do their job quickly and efficiently.
  • Core automation that completes the end-to-end payroll process, enabling real-time identification of all policy deviations and pushes deviations actively to the right people.
  • The know how component which uses the logic that automatically finds the infamous needle in the haystack among payroll issues.

PCC User Interfaces

We will take a closer look at the first component of PCC — its state-of-the-art user interfaces. PCC can be used with on-premise SAP SuccessFactors HCM through the SAP Fiori launchpad or with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. In this unit, you learn how the user can initiate PCC from either of these methods.

Distinctions Between the User Interfaces

Both interfaces, SAP Fiori launchpad and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, use similar drivers and are user friendly. Currently, the SAP Fiori launchpad is only available for on-premise SAP SuccessFactors customers. Let’s review the differences between these customer types. Keep in mind that each interface has certain setup requirements.

On-Premise Customers: SAP Fiori LaunchpadSAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll Customers: Employee Central Payroll
The on-premise version of SAP Payroll Control Center has a traditional licensing, which means a preliminary purchase with annual maintenance. On-premise customers buy and own the SAP PCC license and are able to customize as they wish, and they can make modifications in the program. If a customer buys a cloud subscription of SAP SuccessFactors, they have fewer options for customization.
These customers will default to the SAP Fiori launchpad interface. These customers will default to the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll interface. The focus of the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll UI is on the workflows and processes related to payroll.

Note

Even though the interfaces are a bit different, their goals, roles, and functionality are the same. In this course, you will work with an on-premise solution, but all settings and processes will work identically with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll.

The SAP Fiori Launchpad

What is the SAP Fiori Launchpad?

SAP Fiori Launchpad

The SAP Fiori launchpad is the standard front-end interface for all SAP Fiori apps on mobile and desktop devices and provides the apps with services such as navigation, personalization, embedded support, and application configuration.

SAP Fiori launchpad is the entry point to SAP Fiori apps on mobile and desktop devices. The launchpad displays a home page with tiles, which can display live status indicators, such as the number of open tasks. Each tile represents a business application that the user can launch. This includes SAP Business Suite transactional applications. The launchpad is role-based, displaying tiles according to the user’s role.

The tiles on the home page are arranged in groups. The user can personalize the layout of the home page, by grouping, moving, and removing tiles. The user can also add, delete, rename, and reorder groups. To add tiles to groups, the launchpad provides a tile catalog, which displays all the tiles available to a user.

SAP Fiori launchpad designer is a browser-based administration tool that enables an administrator to configure tiles, create groups for the home page, and create catalogs for the tile catalog.

What Does the SAP Fiori Launchpad Look like for PCC?

You can create different tiles in SAP Fiori launchpad for each service within two assigned PCC roles: Payroll Manager and Payroll Administrator.

The primary tiles for Payroll Process Manager include:

  • Manage policy
  • Manage process
  • My process

The primary tiles for Payroll Administrator include the following:

  • My Alerts
  • Team Alerts

Payroll Administrator Tile and Alerts

With the Payroll Administrator Role, the user will be able to monitor a variety of pre-customized alerts that makes their day-to-day workflow seamless. Let’s look at an example of an alert.

Alerts Tile for Payroll Administrators

Example – Large Payment Alerts

To avoid errors involving large sums of payouts, you can set a validation rule through the Manage Configuration App which will then generate an alert when the validation rule is "broken" to the Payroll Administrator Tile, specifically the Alerts Resolution tile. For example, if a company wants to flag payments that are $10,000 or more, an alert will appear in this area if a payment to an employee has exceeded that amount.

Set up the Fiori Launchpad Home Page (optional)

Business Example

You have already learned several possible deployment options for the Payroll Control Center. In this exercise, you will work with the PCC UI5 Applications through the Fiori Launchpad. The technical consultant has configured several Fiori Catalogs, created roles, and assigned them to your user. You only need to customize the Fiori Launchpad Home page and call any PCC UI5 applications from there.

In the subsequent exercises, you will work with the same PCC UI5 applications through embedded links launched from the backend. Usually, embedded links to PCC UI5 applications are integrated into the customer's corporate portal.

Steps

  1. Call the Fiori Launchpad application from the User Menu for PCC ## Manager & Admin.

  2. To log into the front end of the training system, provide the username HRH65-## and password Welcome1. (You already used the same username and password to log into the training system.)

  3. Create a new tile group for the Fiori Launchpad Home page.

    1. To create a new tile group for the Fiori Launchpad Home page, click on the PCC ## Manager & Admin user icon in the upper right corner of the home page.

    2. Choose the option Edit Home page from the drop-down list.

    3. Scroll down and click on the button Add group.

    4. Enter a group name, for example, PCC Payroll Process Manager.

  4. Add the PCC UI5 Applications to the new group PCC Payroll Process Manager.

    1. Click on the "+" sign to Open the App finder in the middle of the tile under the new group title.

    2. Choose the Fiori Tile Catalog Z_HRH65 Payroll Process Manager.

    3. To add a tile from the catalog to the group, use the Add Tile pin icon in the lower right corner of the tile. Add all tiles from the Fiori Tile Catalog Z_HRH65 Payroll Process Manager to the new group PCC Payroll Process Manager. Pay attention to the system message: "Application name" was added to the group "PCC Payroll Process Manager".

    4. Click on the back arrow in the upper left corner of the App finder screen.
