SAP SuccessFactors has announced planned retirements of the older reporting solutions. Based on customer feedback, functional gaps, and internal review, SAP SuccessFactors has the following plans as of the 1H 2025 release:

  • Tiles & Dashboards will be retired at some point in the future, and SAP SuccessFactors will announce the new timeline as soon as it is available.
  • Table and Canvas reports have no retirement date and do not intend to announce a new date. For Table and Canvas use cases, please review our Frequently Asked Questions document for recommendations on how to proceed.

It's recommended that all new reports be created as Story reports.

Current information about the retirement announcements can be found in the SAP Community, within the Product and Customer Updates section (requires authentication): Retirement of Canvas, Table, Tiles/Dashboards and Classic Report Types - Innovation Alert.

SAP SuccessFactors Dashboard Framework is an embedded analytics solution in the SAP SuccessFactors suite.

The dashboards and tiles are used to track key processes dynamically within the organization.

The dashboard framework analytics consists of the following components, which will be looked at in more detail in later lessons:

  • Standard Dashboards provided by SuccessFactors
  • Standard Tiles provided by SuccessFactors
  • Custom Tiles built with a tile builder by the customer
  • Tile-based dashboards created by the customer

Note

There might be a customer-specific configuration that prohibits the standard dashboard from working out of the box. SAP SuccessFactors cannot guarantee that all widgets in the standard dashboards will work for all configurations.

Dashboards and Tiles

Tiles display a single metric in a consolidated view, such as the status of a manager’s current performance forms or the highest rated competencies of the team. They are fast, flexible, and visual data. Each tile is independent, so administrators can mix and match tiles into a tile-based dashboard. There is also a tool for administrators to build their own simple tiles. Standard tiles are available using the Success Store.

Standard dashboards are slower than tiles, are hardcoded, and have complex logic that may not always work for all customers. When installing a standard dashboard, you cannot edit or hide any of the charts, so you must accept all charts as is. If one of the charts in the dashboard does not work, users will see a dashboard with a broken chart inside, which is not ideal. Customized dashboards can be created via engagements with partners or professional services.

Tile-based dashboards are a collection of tiles. Tile-based dashboards provide a method to easily collect and visualize multiple tiles in a single place. Administrators can create and share these dashboards for targeted user groups.

Note

For a full list of standard tiles, please review the document SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics Directory in the SAP Help Portal.

Features of SAP SuccessFactors Dashboards include:

  • Select to view available dashboards
  • Use Dashboard Settings and Filters to refine data
  • Click in charts to filter and drill down to a list
  • Download lists as CSV or Excel files
  • Zoom into specific charts for more information
  • Get extra insights in mouse over tool tips

Dashboards are interactive, enabling managers to view summary information for their teams. When a manager first accesses the Dashboards tab, the data shown is based on their entire team. The manager can then filter the data to view different sets of information or drill down to a list view to get to the detail behind the chart and take action.

Common Use Cases for Dashboards and Tiles:

  • Supplying critical information to the homepage for managers. For example, the status of the direct report performance forms, such as overdue.
  • Utilizing standard dashboards to see consolidated data on the subjects, for example:
    • See targeted roles among people in a manager’s team and the competency readiness for those roles via the CDP Dashboard.
    • See an overview of the most common competencies, competency gaps, and competency ratings for the manager’s team.
  • Provide real-time information in a location in the SAP SuccessFactors platform where it is needed, for example
    • When working in Succession Module, a succession planner could see who is nominated most times in a selected team to avoid selecting them again.

To access dashboards, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to ReportingReport Center.
  2. Select the action button of the dashboard in the Report list and choose Run.

  4. To apply the dashboard settings and refresh the data displayed in the dashboards, choose Apply Filters.
  5. Dashboards are interactive.

Click on a chart segment to view the underlying data in a List View report, which displays the total number of records from the chart directly below it.

  6. Select the links in the list report to take these actions:

Choose Download to export the report data.

Select links to view information about the subject, document, and so on.
