Confirming That the Customer's Recruiting Job Requisition Templates Meet Their Needs

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Determine fields that support the candidate experience, job distribution, and reporting
  • Configure objects to represent the customer's location information, if not yet completed
  • Add fields to the existing requisition templates, if necessary
  • Create and post job requisitions

Job Data Best Practices

While all customers are seeking to attract and hire qualified candidates, their goals and needs will be different. Part of the consultant’s responsibility is to work closely with your customer to understand their requirements.

Be sure to take into account your customer’s needs for their career site, compliance reporting, and other requirements.

Work with your customer to answer these questions:

  • What data is needed to support the candidate experience?
  • What data is needed to screen candidates, post jobs, and other internal uses?

Work backwards to create fields on the job requisition template, and then map fields over for Career Site Builder, Recruiting Advanced Analytics, and XML feeds.

Unified Data Model for Career Site Builder

The Unified Data Model introduces job location objects and a standard Marketing Brand objects for SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting. These objects are Recruiting-specific and have been built to support Career Site Builder features.

Previously, the Location Foundation Object was used to store location data in the job requisition. However, since the Location Foundation Object was built for HRIS-specific features, certain limitations prohibited the location data from being fully used in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting specific features and scenarios. The new Location Generic object is an extension to the location data, stored in the SAP SuccessFactors suite.

The Job Location Generic object now provides customers with the ability to host SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting specific location object data which can be fully localized and improve the candidate search experience in Career Site Builder. The Job Location Generic object also fully supports multi-location posting.

The Job Location Generic object can be mapped to a Location Foundation object (if the Location Foundation Object data is needed for transitioning or hiring of candidates), but it is not required. This provides full flexibility in the creation and maintenance of recruiting-specific location data.

When configuring the job requisition, it is important to understand whether a customer will be using any of the Career Site Builder features (home page search features, Google Job Map component, job page layouts and/or category pages) so that their environment is enabled with the Unified Data Model.

Job Location Generic Objects

Enabling the Career Site Builder Unified Data Model is highly recommended in order to take advantage of advanced searching and other functionality in customers’ career sites.

Generic Objects Supporting Job Location Information

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting specific Metadata Framework (MDF) objects are required to support the use of the Unified Data Model, including a standard brand object.

The job location objects in the Unified Data Model are:

  • Job Location Generic Object
  • Job Location Long Format Generic Object
  • Job Location Short Format Generic Object
  • State/Province Generic Object

Job Location Generic Object

Before the development of the Unified Data Model, the Location Foundation Object was used with the Recruiting module to support multi-location job postings and other functionality. However, the Location Foundation Object was originally built for HRIS-specific features, and the extensibility of the object was limited.

Use of the Job Location Generic Object provides improved job searching and other enhanced functionality in career sites built with Career Site Builder, and it supports multi-location posting.

The Job Location Generic Object can be mapped to a Location Foundation Object, but this is not required.

See the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting: Recruiter Experience Academy course (THR83) for details about the Job Location Generic Object and other job location objects in Recruiting.

Use the Job Location Generic Object to improve job searching and other enhanced functionality in career sites built with Career Site Builder.

Job Requisition Field Updates

When fields are added or changed on the job requisition template, or if the field mapping is changed, there are several steps to take to ensure that the updated jobs are reflected on the career site.

Update Fields on the Requisition Template

To update the fields on a requisition template, proceed as follows:

Steps

  1. Make the required change, including permissions, to the job requisition XML template from Admin CenterManage Templates.

You can also use an XML editor and import the revised file to Provisioning.

  2. Open the job requisitions and populate the new or changed field.

If there are many values to update, and if you maintained the old field on the XML template and just removed permissions, from Provisioning you could write a rule to move the values from the old field to the new field.

  3. Map the new or changed field from Admin CenterSetup Recruiting Marketing Job Field Mapping.

  4. From ProvisioningManage Scheduled Jobs, run the job created to sync all external job postings.

  5. Check to see if the change is reflected in the jobs posted to Career Site Builder. If not, continue to the next steps.

  6. From Command CenterSite Details page, choose Inactivate All Jobs.

    Note

This action performs a hard reset and removes all jobs from the career site, so make this change during a time of the day when fewer candidates are looking for jobs.
  7. From ProvisioningManage Scheduled Jobs, run the job created to sync all external job postings again.

  8. Check if the change is reflected in the jobs posted to Career Site Builder. If not, check the logs.

  9. From Command CenterSite Details page, choose Export Automated Process Logs.

  10. To verify that the field changes appear in the jobs, choose Export Jobs to CSV.

Active Job Requisitions for Best Run

Jobs that are available in a customer’s Career Site Builder site are first created and posted in SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting. Real Time Job Sync copies the job information to the CSB site.
