Delivering Sitemap Links to Google and Bing

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to generate sitemap links

Search Engine Sitemaps

Sitemaps are a list of the URLs on a website that are available for search engine spiders to crawl.

Sitemaps are submitted to both Google and Bing webmasters once a site has gone live on production. This needs to be done in a live environment for the sitemaps to be collected and indexed, so it is not practiced in class.

After moving your customer's site to production, follow the instructions in the Microsoft PowerPoint slide deck, "Sitemap Submission Process-CSB.pptx" to generate the sitemaps in Career Site Builder. You can find this slide deck on SAP PartnerEdge.

Completing the site map submission is important because it ties the customer’s Career Site Builder site directly to two of the biggest search engines on the web.

Sitemap links are located under SettingsSite ConfigurationSite Information, which is also where the customer’s IDs for Google and Bing are entered.

Career Site Builder page is displayed, select Site Information tab. Site Map field is highlighted.

Once the sitemaps are in place, no additional action is required, unless the customer changes the domain of their career site, such as a brand name change. Customers can access this SAP Knowledge Base Article for instructions: https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap/support/knowledge/en/2887940
