There are several permissions to consider for the Talent Search. They are defined from Admin Center → Manage Permission Roles. Role-Based Permissions (RBP) provide flexible configuration options of the Talent Search fields and target populations for different employee groups while maintaining robust data privacy.

- Talent Search Access (Succession Planner permissions)
This User permission enables the Talent Search tab in Succession and the Advanced search link when adding successors from the Succession Org Chart (SOC). You can give permissions to any number of roles.
Users in multiple roles with access to Talent Search can choose between relevant roles from Settings on the Talent Search screen. The system remembers the role a user that selects and it does not change between sessions, respecting the fields and target population configured for each role.
- Talent Search Export Permissions (Succession Planner permissions)
This user permission allows users to see the Export button in the Talent Search Result page.
Although Talent Search is already fully compliant with security and permission settings, this option offers additional convenience for customers to provide an easy export function, regardless of whether the user roles have access to the data within the system. Exporting employee data is often considered a very sensitive privacy task and should not easily be available for all Talent Search users.
- Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions (Succession Planner permissions)
This user permission controls the results a user sees in Talent Search with the associated target population. Only those users who match the search criteria and who are part of the assigned target population of the user performing the search are displayed in the search results. The Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions option also controls the icons configured on the Succession Org Chart. However, it is important to note that the permissions defined from the Employee Data category in RBP control which fields are seen in the Profile but not the corresponding icons on the SOC except for the login/proxy user themselves.
- Search field availability (Talent Search Field permissions)
With this user permission, the search fields that are available as filters can be specified for each role. This permission category includes the standard elements, the userinfo elements, the background elements, the Employee Central job information fields (if the customer has EC enabled), and other options (Inactive User and Talent Pool).
- Talent Search Management (Manage System Properties permission)
This admin permission allows administrators to manage how Talent Search works in their application; you first must provide them access to the Talent Search Settings feature.
