People Profile Overview

People Profile is the latest UI version of the Employee Profile feature and for SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. It is more than a people repository; it represents your single source for employee and organizational data. Access to the People Profile is through the Main MenuMy Employee File. The main purpose of the People Profile, as it relates to Succession Planning, is to collect or store data that is displayed with the various succession planning tools.

Career vs Talent Sections in People Profile

Employees use People Profile sections to share professional information reflecting their resume. This data is often divided into separate sections for Career and Talent Profile. The Career section provides a comprehensive view of an employee’s career progression with elements like Previous Experience, Education, or Career Goals whereas the Talent Profile helps Management to identify and nominate talent using Talent flags along with performance and potential ratings. Not all customers organize data in this way since People Profile is highly customizable. But most companies use this data to help make Succession related decisions. All of this information works to provide a holistic picture of an employee's strengths and career aspirations.

If you have added talent data to the People Profile to track information such as the talent flags, do not upgrade to the Latest People Profile. Not all standard and trend elements are available in the Latest People Profile. Data such as the Talent Information block shown below is not migrated at this time so it can not be edited. If you've already upgraded to the Latest People Profile you can turn it off under Company System and Logo Settings.

Succession Management Touchpoints with People Profile

People Profile configuration is critical to Succession as it stores the data necessary for Succession Management processes and features. Depending on Role-Based Permissions granted, employees can view or edit their Career Profile while Managers assess their potential in the Career Profile.

People Profile provides the criteria for the Talent Search tool to identify and nominate employees for Talent Pools and/or consider them as successors for critical positions. Talent nominations are input for discussion and confirmation in a Talent Review Meeting. The SAP SuccessFactors Calibration module is often used to facilitate these reviews. A concise summary of People Profile information can be displayed in a Talent Card and made available across Succession Management. SAP SuccessFactors supports three types of Talent Cards: Succession, Presentation, and Calibration Talent Cards.
