WFA Targets

Selecting a Measure

A Target is a desired level of performance for a measure that can be achieved through proactive management.

Target setting is available in the AdminTarget Setting link.

Note

Access to this tool is granted in Role Based Permissions.
Screenshots of defining a measure.
  1. To begin, define your measure by choosing Select twice:Screenshot of the navigation tree for measures.
  2. Selecting a measure from the navigation tree. You can customize which measures display based upon a selection at the top of the window:
    • All: Displays all measures available.
    • Targets: Displays measures with targets entered.
    • No Targets: Displays measures without any targets entered.
Defining your parametersScreenshot of example definition of Time, Structural, and Analysis.
  3. Once the desired measure is chosen, select the dimensions you wish to enter targets against.
    • The Time dimension can be Calendar or Fiscal (if available).
    • Structural dimensions include Organizational Unit and/or any additional dimensions you have implemented.
    • Analysis dimensions are optional. Select the desired dimension or set to [All] if you do not wish to specify one.
  4. Select Create to continue.

Accessing Pre-defined Targets

Screenshot for accessing pre-defined targets.

If any targets have already been created for a measure with the same time, structural, and analysis options chosen, they will appear instead of the Create button.

These can either be opened for editing or deleted.

Note

If Analysis is set to [All], all predefined targets for that measure, time and structural dimension will appear, regardless of the analysis dimension chosen.

Choosing your Target Type

The desired target type can be chosen by selecting the appropriate icon.

Setting Thresholds (yellow/near range)

Screenshots of setting thresholds.

You can use thresholds to display a close to target/near range.

Thresholds can be a number or percent range and defined on either side or both sides of target.

  1. Enter measure specific thresholds on the Target Setting tab, or
  2. Enter site wide threshold rules on the Admin tab.

Threshold Examples

Range targets can use all four tolerance types.

Single targets can use Just Below High and Just Above Low.

Defining your Target Framework

  1. Once the desired measure, dimensions and target types are chosen, select Display Options to enter your targets.Screenshot of Organization Target Editor, to select time period, structural node and analysis node.
  2. Select the Time period(s), structural node(s) and analysis node(s) you wish to enter targets against.
  3. Select Refresh.Screenshot of example target values in table.
  4. Enter target values in the table populated (hint: select one or multiple cells).Screenshot of updating value.
  5. Enter targets as Actuals or adjust by a + or –number or percent. Target will inherit down the table. (Detail Below).
  6. When finished, close the inner or outer window to return to the Target selection screen or exit Target Setting.

Entering Targets

Screenshot of the options to enter or update values.

Choose the appropriate way to enter/update the value:

  • Clears a pre-defined target and the inherited targets in any descendants.
  • Clears a pre-defined target but leaves the inherited targets of any descendants unchanged.
  • User enters the desired numerical target.
  • User can change the pre-defined target by a numerical value (+2) or a relative percentage (+2%).

Note

The % check box must be checked to increase or decrease the pre-defined target by a percentage.

Note

Inheritance applies when entering targets at a parent node for result measures only. The value entered will inherit downwards to the children of the selected node, for example, All Gender target will inherit downwards to Male, Female and Unallocated.

Changing Target Type

Screenshots of changing the target type.

Note

A pop-up warning appears when changing from a range target to any other target type, to prevent the loss of pre-entered targets.

Labels and Tolerances in the Admin Menu

Screenshots of changing target labels via the Admin tab.

You can change your target labels in the Admin tab.

Site-wide tolerance values can be defined in the Admin tab. On the Target Setting tab, there is an option to select Use default tolerance set in Admin tab.

Activating Targets in Page Designer Components
