  • Add new rows/columns to a table.

Work with Tables

Watch this short demonstration to see how you can work with tables in the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Excel.

Learn how to change data displays, format tables, add rows and columns, and customize display options for better readability using the SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Excel.

Measure Displays and Formatting

You can define how numeric values are displayed in your table, either for all measure or for a single measure. These formats are defined on the Number Format tab in the Designer panel.

Number Format tab of the Designer panel is highlighted.

Totals Displays

You can show totals in your table, in rows and columns. Depending on the location of the dimensions in the table, showing totals could result in subtotals and total sums.

To add a totals row, choose the context menu and Show Totals on the respective dimension.

In the following example, you can see that you can arrange totals and parent nodes above or below the values that make up the total by using the context menu on rows or columns. You can also suppress zeros and swap the axes of the table.

Context Menu options from the Designer tab.

New Rows/Columns

You can insert new rows and columns into a table. These new elements persist after navigation steps that force a rebuild of the table, like a refresh or swapping axes.

Select a cell in the table and then choose the Add Rows/Columns button. In the new cells, you can work with Excel formulas or insert text. The new cell entry stays when you refresh or navigate in the workbook.

If you add a new row/column after a dimension member and you change your analysis so that the member is no longer part of the table, then the new row/column will also no longer be visible. However, it is not deleted. The new row/column will be displayed if the dimension member is again in the table.

Add Rows/Columns options as selected from the ribbon.
