We previously learned that the closing cycle for a closing key date is represented by a task list. You can schedule or process tasks that have the status Released or Active in the task list. You can change the task status for each task separately or for multiple tasks at once.
The system automatically updates the status of jobs that you execute. When processing tasks, you can create comments regarding your changes and add attachments.
All actions are logged to provide a complete audit trail.
Below you can see how to process and approve closing tasks with the Process Closing Tasks app:
You can use the Process Closing Tasks app to perform the following tasks:
Update and edit tasks either individually or in batches.
Schedule test runs for jobs that have this option enabled.
Display job logs or application logs containing system messages that help you resolve issues.
Jump to task-specific applications to see the specific results of a job run.
Choose between different views to get a better overview.
Closing Task Approval
You use the Approve Closing Tasks app to check and approve critical closing tasks.
Depending on the approval type selected for tasks, they can be subject to dual control. That means that they need to be approved by a user other than the processing user after they were processed. The approval type is assigned on task level and doesn't apply to complete the task list.
For every task of a closing task list, one of the following approval types is selected:
No Approval Required
The task does not require approval before it can be completed.
Completed Approval Required
The task requires explicit approval before it can be completed and is therefore subject to dual control. The successor tasks are on hold until the approval is granted.
Pending Approval Required
The task is subject to approval and therefore to dual control. However, pending approval does not cause subsequent closing steps to be delayed.
