SAP Business Network Supplier Portal: enablement activities

Managing Buyer Account Settings for Enablement Activities

Accessing the "Supplier Enablement" drop-down tab on the SAP Business Network buyer account contains all features necessary to create, customize and manage enablement related activities, such as relationship status and onboarding progress.

Before technical go live and start of any trading partner enablement, the buyer account administrator and enablement lead are to review and to customize the SAP Business Network buyer account settings:

  • Buyer organization company profile.
  • Trading Relationship Request and other message templates.
  • Review system Notifications.
  • User access including roles and responsibilities.

Trading Relationship Request templates

To invite trading partners to connect on SAP Business Network, buyer organization needs to prepare the Trading Relationship Request (TRR) message templates on the buyer account. Depending on the enablement methodology, the pre-defined templates can be further customized directly on buyer account

Additionally, buyer is to customize the selected TRR template for each trading partner’s country and preferred language. In case the country and language are not defined, SAP Business Network will trigger the message template in English per default.

To learn more about the Trading Relationship Request, please review the following video or go through the steps bellow:

How to activate and configure the TRR message template.

Only buyer account administrator or user with the necessary permissions assigned to their role will be able to send out the TRR message.

  1. Trading Relationship Request message

Go to the Supplier Enablement tab and then to Configure. Find "Trading Relationship Request Letter (SAP Business Network)" for each possible supplier account.

    Select “Configure”.
Select the message template according to the enablement methodology.
  2. Customize the Content

To edit the letter, select "Action" and then "Create/Edit Custom Content".

We recommend for buyer to add a customized text into the open field which represents the project, purpose and benefit for the trading partner to participate and adopt the network. We highly recommend buyers to additionally specify within the text of each TRR template, what type of account is offered to the trading partner (standard or enterprise account). Make sure the content font type and size are coherent across the template and save your document.

    Click on “Action”.
    Select “Create/Edit Custom Content”.
Select trading partner country, required language format and provide customized content into the open field.

    Note

First, buyer needs to customize a template an English version per targeted supplier country first. Additional language versions per trading partner country can be created only in second step.

  3. Template Translation

The translation of each available message template is driven by the preferred language and trading partner country populated in the pre-created trading partner record on SAP Business Network buyer account (either manually or via the Vendor Upload File). If the trading partner data is loaded to the buyer account without preferred language, the default language will be English, and the SAP Business Network will send any message available on buyer account for customization in English. Same behavior is applicable for the interactive Purchase Order process.

Every customize text needs to be first created in English, before creating any additional languages and country specific message templates on the buyer account. For example, you should create an English content for Spain before creating a Spanish one for Spain.

Unlike the pre-defined template, your customized introduction is not automatically translated. You will have to manually save all necessary translations.
