Configuring Approval Groups for Services

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Demonstrate the SOW approval process.
  • Configure an Approval Group for a Statement of Work.

Approval Groups

Throughout the lifecycle of SOW Creation and SOW Management, there are a variety of times where an organization may want, or need, to configure Approval Groups. Examples include approving a newly created SOW or revising the terms of an existing one, updating Fees or other characteristics, or when an SOW Worker is added to a project.

Configuring Approval Groups for SOWs and SOW Workers is different from the Approval Groups used for the Contingent module. Therefore, Approval Groups for the Services module must be created separately.

Configure Approvals for an SOW

WorkingNet wants to streamline the approval process for new SOWs created in SAP Fieldglass. This means they are looking to create Approval Groups that require approval from only the necessary individuals they have identified. They have provided you with the requirements, so you will now build out their logic as an Approval Group admin object in the application.

Other SOW Approval Groups

Creating Approval Groups for any SOW attribute follows a similar process. Differences occur based on the module selected and the manner in which the attribute must be configured. Even beyond the module selected, configuration of approval groups for SOWs can depend on such things as the Approval Type, the Role of the approver, and any logic required for the approval group.

Configure Fee Approval Group
1

For instance, you select Fee from the Module dropdown to see what Message Type options are available for Fees when the SOW Owner is the approver.

2You see the Message Types: Approval, Escalation, and Notification are available to select when the SOW Owner is set as the approver in a Fee Approval Group.
Configure SOW Bid Approval Group
3Now you select SOW Bid from the Module dropdown to see what Message Type options are available for SOW Bids when the SOW Owner is the approver. Whilst SOW Bids are considered non-transactional they share many of the same configuration attributes as SOWs, with the exception of approvals which are independent to that of any consequent SOWs.
4You see the Message Types Approval, Escalation, Editor, and Notification are available to select for when the SOW Owner is set as the approver in an SOW Bid Approval Group.
