Exploring an SOW Type

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to navigate an SOW Type admin object and explain what it represents in SAP Fieldglass.

SOW Type

SOW Types are used to define the settings, rules, and characteristics for individual purchasing categories.

During the creation of an SOW Type, the template settings are configured first. These are the settings that default when an SOW Template is created using this SOW Type.

Next, the form page settings are configured. These settings also default when an SOW is created from a template that is associated to this type.

Once an SOW Type is created, it must be associated to a classification. Each classification can only be associated to one SOW Type. However, an SOW Type can be associated to multiple classifications.

The SOW Type List page provides minimal information; just the name and description of the type.

2To view the details of an SOW Type, select an appropriate link in the Type column.

SOW Type Details Page

The SOW Type details page displays all of the characteristics of the type, and indicates which fields are enabled, visible, or locked.

3Use the Template Configuration section to configure the template fields and rules. The choices made in this section determine the settings that display and the values that default when an SOW Template is created using this SOW Type.
4

The Locked? (padlock) and Hidden? (eyeball) columns are available for you to indicate whether the field is visible on the template and/or if the value should be locked.

If a field is hidden, that field will not appear on the SOW template.

If a field is locked, that field will appear on the template but will not be editable.

If all the fields in a section are hidden, the section is hidden on the SOW template and the SOW.

5Use the Form Page Configuration section to control what a user sees when creating an SOW from a template that uses this SOW type. The fields that display here depend on the previous configurations selected for the template unless the field is only on the form page. If a field or section is hidden on the template, it is also hidden on the form page. If a default value was defined in the SOW Template Configuration section, that value defaults on the SOW form page.
