Managing the Home Page Layout

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create an SAP Fieldglass UI layout for a User Role.

Layout Manager

The Layout Manager admin object allows administrators to custom layouts for certain pages and associate them to user roles. This allows your users to see content that's important for their day-to-day productivity.

Administrators can configure layouts for the following pages:

  • Home pages: Customized home pages can be created for specific user roles to show only content to users that's relevant to their jobs.
  • SOW Dashboard: Personalized content in the SOW Dashboard allows users to see content that's important for their day-to-day productivity.
The standard layout of the SAP Fieldglass landing page for an administrator, with a blue welcome banner and cards for announcements, My Work Items, Linked Accounts, and My Job Postings. Next to that is a modified layout consisting of a gray welcome banner and cards for In Progress Items and My Job Postings.

Navigating the Layout Manager Admin Object

Configuration section of the Admin Menu, the Layout Manager selection is highlighted.
1To view the list view configurations within WorkingNet, select Layout Manager from the Configuration section of the admin menu.

Layout Manager List Page

Layout Manager List page displaying the default layouts Administrator, Finance and Reporting, Hiring Manager, and PMO. Each details the Name and Description. The Name column is highlighted.

Layout Manager Details Page

Layout Manager Details page highlighting the Home Page section and SOW Dashboard section. The Home Page section includes a field indicating the type of layout, the banner color, an option to show the What’s New card, and a list of other layout items that can be configured. The SOW Dashboard section is similar but does not have Banner Color or Shaw What’s New fields.
3The Home Page section indicates how a user’s SAP Fieldglass home page will be configured.
4Show What’s New indicates if the home page will display a What’s New button in the welcome banner.
5The Cards area of each section details what information cards will appear on the home page.
6Banner Color indicates the current color of the Home Page welcome banner.
7The SOW Dashboard section, like the Home Page section, indicates how the PMO Dashboard will appear to a PMO user.

Create a New Home Page Layout

WorkingNet Networking, Inc. is a global manufacturer of data networking equipment. The Program Management Office wants the landing pages of SAP Fieldglass admins to appear distinct from other users, so they decide to create a new layout for admin's home pages.

As the SAP Fieldglass administrator for WorkingNet, you (ironically) must now take their suggested changes and create and associate a new layout for admin users.

Summary

The Layout Manager admin object allows you to customize layouts for different pages specific to user roles.

Key Points:

  • Layout Customization: The Layout Manager allows administrators to create custom layouts for home pages and the SOW Dashboard based on user roles.
  • Layout Details: The Home Page section configures the home page with options like banner color, 'What's New' button, and specific cards. The SOW Dashboard section is similar but does not include these extra details.
  • Creating New Layouts: Administrators can create new layouts, specify details like banner color and cards, and associate them with specific user roles to activate the new layout.
  • User Role Association: After creating a layout, it must be associated with a user role to be effective, enabling immediate use by those users.
