Executing a Service Management Process Using SAP S/4HANA or SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition

On-site service processing in SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition typically consists of the steps: create a service request (optional), create a service order quotation (optional), create a service order, create a service confirmation and create a billing document request and the corresponding billing document.

Besides an on-site service process, other types of service processes are also supported. Examples include in-house repairs and recurring services.

And besides these other types of processes, functionality like the maintenance of service contracts and the use of (for example) service order templates is also available in SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Private Edition.

Besides the above mentioned types of service processes, SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition also offers a type of service process that helps businesses to plan, execute and bill services for complex assets or long-running services with multiple billing cycles. This process is called Service with Advanced Execution.

Service with Advanced Execution offers advanced planning and execution capabilities, and is built around the integration of Service with Maintenance Management. Service is responsible for understanding the scope of the service requirements, negotiating the price, ensuring customer satisfaction and managing profitability. Maintenance Management is responsible for planning and executing the service, including scheduling and confirming the work.

Service with Advanced Execution brings together both worlds: Service and Maintenance Management. This process also supports resource-related quotations and resource-related billing based on the so-called Dynamic Item Processor (DIP).
