Characteristics of a Service Contract
Note
See what Paige, service manager at H2 Energy Solutions, has to say about service contracts:The features of a service contract can be summarized as follows:
- It represents an outline agreement with a customer that defines the content and scope of specific services to be delivered, under specific conditions, for a particular period.
- It specifies the service levels to which a customer is entitled.
- It lists the parts that are covered by the contracted services (for example, server, workstations, and printers).
- It includes a product list containing services and service parts in contract entitlement.
- It contains price agreements for services and parts.
- It limits the contracted services or service parts in terms of value and/or quantity.
Service Contract Assignment

When creating a service order with a transaction type for which contract determination is activated (in the configuration of the system), you are either requested to select a contract, or the system determines the contract and copies it to the service order automatically.
For successful contract determination, the following data must be maintained and the following criteria must be fulfilled:
- Partner data
- Sales and service organization
- Status
