Total Workforce Management
Total workforce management from SAP helps the organization establish a clear view of the entire workforce. Proactively manage everyone – from full- and part-time employees to services providers and contingent workers – all while reducing manual processes.

The image above shows how Total Workforce Management integrates the management of internal and external workers using a combination of SAP technologies.
The employees, here shown as one bubble, are also not as homogenous as this suggests: in reality, the internal workforce is made up of many types of workers, including permanent workers, part-time employees, interns, and apprentices, to name a few.
The external workforce is also multi-faceted, divided into contingent labor and service labor. Contingent labor is sourced by the organization or its staffing partners, while service labor consists typically of service providers like consulting, construction firms, ad agencies, and includes service workers, consultants and contractors, and freelancers.
At the heart of total workforce management is SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central and SAP Fieldglass. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central is the home of the employees’ data, and everything related to employees happens here. SAP Fieldglass is the home of the external worker, where the lifecycle of the external worker happens.
External worker integration happens through the Business Technology Platform between SAP Fieldglass and SAP SuccessFactors. Once the contingent worker is brought over to Employee Central, this opens up possibilities within other SuccessFactors applications drawing from Employee Central, such as Position Management and Learning.
We can navigate this heterogenous landscape by leveraging SAP S/4HANA Cloud for ERP, Finance, Project Staffing and SAP Analytics Cloud for analytics and benchmarking. This is possible because these solutions all run on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and have been integrated holistically along all seven suite qualities - using the same data model, integration engine, user interface, analytics, and security model.
