Let’s see where SAP Entitlement Management comes into play with the triggering of service maintenance!
Printing Service in Use – Rating, Printer Maintenance and Invoicing

ACME Inc. has reached their printing threshold of 3,650 pages. SAP Entitlement Management triggers the scheduling of a service technician as part of their contract.
James is ready to learn how SAP Entitlement Management applies to his business. As you may recall when we setup our printing as a service product in SAP S/4HANA, ACME Inc. ordered the configurable printer product PRT_HW_CFG with the professional pricing model, while the maintenance service was defined as PRT_SERV_MAINTAIN.
In our business example printing as a service, we demo as a consumption-related entitlement the printer maintenance.
Subscription Monetization: Usage Rating in Entitlement Management

SAP Entitlement has a service entitlement that controls the usage of the printer via the integration with SAP Convergent Mediation Cloud Edition. The consumption of the printer with printed pages is evaluated and enriched with the entitlement ID in SAP Convergent Mediation CE. It is aggregated according to printing sessions to reduce the volume for the upload to SAP Entitlement Management.
The entitlement controls the number of printed pages against the threshold of the entitlement for the trigger of the next printer maintenance.
After 3,650 pages, the event for creation of a service order is created. This event is distributed via SAP Cloud integration to the SAP S/4HANA Service. A new service order is created with service material PRT_SERV_MAINTAIN.
The fulfillment of the service order is similar to that described for the service installation. See Unit 4 Lesson 2: Service Management.
The threshold needs renewal for the next printer maintenance after the service fulfillment.
