After completing this lesson, you will be able to explore the five key capabilities (phases) to enable comprehensive management of controls and compliance

SAP Process Control Key Capabilities

The graphic is a flowchart diagram of SAP Process Control. SAP Process Control is the central point that has five connections arranged around it. The connections are labeled as : Documentation, Plan, Perform and Monitor, Evaluate, and Report. This diagram represents the relationship and interactions within SAP process control.

SAP Process Control solution provides organizations with a strategic framework to manage compliance and compliance related initiatives and enables to establish a more automated and centralized control model to significantly increase operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Broadly, SAP Process Control covers five main areas:

1.Documentation

To effectively support compliance efforts across an enterprise, access to compliance and control data is essential. SAP Process Control provides a central repository for the documentation of compliance regulations and their requirements in the context of an organizations internal structure and along critical business processes. Data is aligned across multiple data structures, many integrated with SAP Risk Management and SAP Audit Management, and provides a standardization of internal control documentation.

2.Plan In SAP Process Control, planner functionalities enable the triggering of workflow-driven performance, assessments, and tests of effectiveness. At the same time, the planner allows for the defining and scheduling of continuous control monitoring rules. This functionality also accommodates the organized distribution of policies and corresponding surveys, serving to maintain compliance and progression within the organization.

3.Perform and Monitor SAP Process Control supports manual and automated control execution. It centralizes test plans and links them to control definitions for manual testing. The system also integrates with issue management for immediate recording and handling of issues. Additionally, it provides options for semi-automated or fully automated continuous control monitoring of various elements.

4.Evaluate

SAP Process Control provides workflow driven surveys, assessment and evaluations that include issue/remediation management, as well as notifications and status reporting. The application provides both a Question Library and a Survey Library. Questions can be uploaded or maintained directly in the library. Surveys are easily defined by the appropriate user to support evaluation via self-assessment, control design assessment, subprocess design assessment, disclosure survey's and sign-off.

5.Report

SAP Process Control provides detailed and flexible reporting features that enable users to gain full visibility into the control environment and make data-driven decisions. It supports a catalog of standard reports, which cover areas such as master data setup, evaluation activities, audit logs and authorization analysis. All reports come with selection criteria, export and print functionality, and drilldown capability for ease of use.

The goal of SAP Process Control is to manage all compliance related activities and data into a single solution and to provide the organization with the ability to automate risk and control monitoring, as well as testing, analytical and validation capabilities, across the enterprise.

SAP Process Control centralizes the documentation of the company's internal control framework and provides best practice methodologies to facilitate risk mitigation, control monitoring, evaluation and testing, and to provide support for the alignment of risks and controls across multiple regulatory requirements. The Process Control Framework drives improvements and increases in the effectiveness of the company's overall compliance program.
