Now let's look at the attributes and activities. Privacy segments and activity indicators are covered later, as they are not edited directly in the Schema Editor. The Customer Schema is extensible and configurable from the Administration Console. The Profile Entity is a list of attributes associated with the Customer Identity. It includes predefined attributes and custom attributes you can extend or configure as needed. Attributes can be defined as a single or an array of values. Attributes can also have pre-built validation and normalization rules. If needed, attributes can be defined as application identifiers. These attributes can be used as unique identifiers in the source target systems. For example, C-I-A-M-I-D-C-R-M-I-D.

The activity schema contains all the potential customer activities such as orders, service requests, marketing campaigns, registration, subscription, etc. Activities reflect any action the customer has done or was involved in, and activities can have multiple attributes like the customer profile.

In this video, we'll walk you through the customer schema features of the SAP Customer Data Platform. First, we'll add new attributes to the profile entity, and then create a new activity schema. In the console, hover your mouse over the hamburger button on the top left. Then move down to click on the Customer Schemas menu under the Connect section. You'll see two tabs under Customer Schemas. The first one is Profile, which is selected by default. It displays SAP Customer Data Platform's pre-defined attributes under the Profile node in the middle of the screen. In the console, you can view the profile entity schema in two different modes, Tree mode and JSON mode. The default mode is Tree mode. Click on the down arrow to the left of the profile node to collapse all the attribute nodes. Click once again to expand all the attribute nodes. You can also switch to the JSON mode by clicking on the JSON button on the top. you'll see the Profile Entity Schema definition in JSON format. To add a new attribute to the Profile Entity Schema, click on the Create New Node blue button on the top right corner. Or, you can scroll all the way down to the bottom of the attribute nodes and click on the plus create node dashed box. Let's use the second approach to add a new attribute, zip code, which is more intuitive. On the create attribute pop-up, you can choose the data type of the new attribute. In this case, we'll use the default type, String. You can optionally enter the display name and description. Then click OK to save the new attribute to the Profile Entity schema. Don't forget to click on the Save button to store your changes. Once you're done with the Profile Entity attributes, you can click on the Activities tab to see activity schemas. To see all the existing activity schemas, click on the hamburger button under the Activities tab. You can create new activity schemas by clicking on the plus new activity button to the right of the filter box. Or, you can select one of the existing activity schemas under the filter box to see the activity attributes. Like the profile entity, you can expand and collapse the Activity Attribute nodes and switch between Tree Mode and JSON Mode. If you want to add new attributes to the existing activity schema, just click on the Create New Node blue button on the top right, or click the Plus Create Node dashed box under the Last Activity Attribute node. Here, we're going to add a new activity schema, Ebook View. Click the Create No Activity button on the pop-up form. Enter the name, then click OK. Click on the plusCreateNode dashed box at the bottom of the tree node. Add Category ID attribute as String, When attribute as String, and turn on Validation. Choose Date Time as Format. Now add Channel attribute as String, and click on Validation. Add allowed values like desktop, mobile, and other. After you add all the required attributes for the new activity schema, click the Save button at the bottom right to save it into the customer schema. This completes the customer schema demo.
